It seems Russell Brand’s talent for getting women into bed – on and off screen – has its limits. The English actress Emily Blunt, who made her name with a scene-stealing role in The Devil Wears Prada and recently won plaudits for her lead role in The Young Victoria, has reportedly pulled out of a film because it would involve too many sex scenes with the controversial comedian, radio DJ and now Hollywood actor.

According to a report from the Cannes film festival in the Mail on Sunday, Blunt had been lined up to play a sex-crazed pop singer who beds Brand’s character in Get Me To The Greek.But Blunt got cold feet, believing that nude scenes with Brand might not do her reputation as a serious actress any good. “She’s no prude,” said the Mail’s mole. “The stumbling block was that her character had far too many explicit love scenes.”

There is one English actor 26-year-old Blunt clearly does enjoy working with – the rather more senior and respectable Anthony Hopkins. Having only recently finished filming in London a remake of the classic 1941 horror movie The Wolfman with Hopkins, Blunt is now lined up to make another film with the Welshman, Shoot the Messenger.

It’s based on the novel Lying on the Couch by Irving Yalom about a young woman who plans to ruin the career of a pyscotherapist who she is convinced advised her husband to file for divorce.
