Funnyman Jack Black is literally taking on the biggest role of his career in ‘Gulliver’s Travels,’ the upcoming 3D film in which he plays a magazine mailroom clerk who talks his way into writing a piece on the Bermuda Triangle. Naturally, upon arriving, he gets sucked into a secret world — called Lilliput — where he’s much bigger than the native inhabitants.

As the titular character, Black looks at ease as he goes for — wait for it — big jokes, though the trailer also puts the spotlight on the movie’s awesome supporting cast, most notably Jason Segel as a suitor in love with a princess (Emily Blunt) who thinks the Millennium Falcon is actually real.

Emily Blunt, the ‘Devil Wears Prada’ actress – who stars as Princess of Lilliputia in new movie ‘Gulliver’s Travels’, which is based on the classic novel by Jonathan Swift – has taken up the guitar-like instrument after seeing her two co-stars Jack Black and Billy Connolly playing it on set between takes.

Emily, 26, claims she is getting good and serenades fiance John Krasinski with her favourite Otis Redding song.

She said: “I can play ‘Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay’ and that Beatles song, ‘When I’m 65′ or is it ’64′? Whatever it is. I like that one. Next I’d like to learn ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’ on the ukulele.”

Emily is not the only star to have recently taken up the ukulele.

Zac Efron, 22, has started to learn the instrument after becoming interested in it while shooting his new coming-of-age movie ‘Me And Orson Welles’.

He said: “I think one thing that I’ll never forget was the ukulele instrument we had. One of the guys in the cast is really good on the ukulele so he would kind of improvise. And we would all improvise songs about people on the cast and just kind of like sing.”

Amanda Peet has joined the cast of the adventure movie “Gulliver’s Travels” opposite Jack Black.

The 20th Century Fox film, derived from Jonathan Swift’s classic story, also stars Jason Segel and Emily Blunt.

The modern retelling follows travel writer Lemuel Gulliver, who heads to an assignment in the Bermuda Triangle only to end up on the secret island of Lilliput, home to a population of industrious tiny people. Peet will play Black’s editor and potential romantic interest. • Continue Reading?

I start the question and I can hear the eyes rolling even over the phone.

“Ohhh boy,” says Emily Blunt, bracing for the Black Widow/Iron Man 2 question. She was director Jon Favreau’s pick to play Black Widow, Russian spy and sexy villainess, to Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man in the about-to-film sequel to last summer’s comic book film smash. But Favreau revealed on the Oscar red carpet that Fox was exercising its option to have her in the new Gulliver’s Travels that studio is backing (Jack Black has the title role, Rob Letterman is directing). So no Emily. • Continue Reading?

Twentieth Century Fox is negotiating with Emily Blunt and Jason Segel to join Jack Black in “Gulliver’s Travels,” the Rob Letterman-directed reimagining of the classic Jonathan Swift tale.

John Davis and Ben Cooley are producing.

Blunt had already been offered the role of Black Widow in “Iron Man 2,” but that may not be an option because of “Gulliver’s Travels.” Fox holds an option on the actress that was part of her deal when she co-starred in “The Devil Wears Prada,” and the studio may invoke it to see that she takes part in the giant tale. • Continue Reading?
