Tom Cruise is pushing for a sequel to ‘Edge of Tomorrow’
Told MTV News: “I pitched it to [‘Rogue Nation’ director and ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ screenwriter Christopher] McQuarrie and [‘Edge of Tomorrow’ director] Doug [Liman]. We were there one night and I was like, I’ve got an idea for it…it could be so much fun…”
Cruise won’t do it without Emily Blunt, though, and gives her a lot of credit for the film being so good. He’s already approached her about it and she seems open to the idea once she’s free: “Gotta get Emily. I was like Emily, please. She was like, ‘give me another year, please.'”
Despite great reviews and a strong push by film critics, ‘Edge’ underperformed at the domestic box office. It was word-of-mouth that helped the film cross $100-million mark. It did better internationally ($369M). If Cruise gets Blunt, a screenwriter, and a director to commit, the sequel will likely happen.
